PayPerPost - Bad for The Blogging Community

Posted by: Myra  /  Category: Advertising

PayPerPost, a company that brings blog advertisers and companies together.

With such a relationship, is PayPerPost good or bad for the blogging community? The major pro that most bloggers can see is that they allow bloggers to monetize their website by writing blog posts that have been sponsored by companies. These sponsored posts however have specifications which are outlined to the blogger prior to publishing the post. These specifications can be somewhat questionable since they do require bloggers to write positive reviews about their products. Since this is the case, bloggers could be writing positive reviews about the company and their products without even trying them. Deceiving to the readers? Yes it is.

There have been some negative press about PayPerPost (especially from TechCrunch, a popular technology blog) that have been stating how PayPerPost is negatively impacting the blogging community. There are not only dishonest blogposts that are floating around the internet but there are also very spammy posts that are also dispersed throughout search engines.

PayPerPost does truly test the ethics of many bloggers, if they are willing to sell out their blogs to make some quick cash.

Internet, is it The Green Way To Go?

Posted by: Myra  /  Category: Media

Is the internet the green way to go? When you think about it: yes it might be the more environmentally friendly way of distributing media!

Imagine all of the paper that is used just to print out magazines and newspapers. If all of those media are placed on websites, we could use up unlimited amounts of pages without chopping down any trees. Of course electricity still produced pollution but it is much less impacting than chopping down a forest of trees just to print out media that will be read and thrown out after.

Another benefit that arises from placing media on the internet is that there would be less advertisements printed out and posted all over the city. This can also benefit the appeal of the city: wouldn’t you love to walk downtown without being bombarded by advertisement posters every block?

There is also a negative aspect that would be formed from placing media online (as opposed to offline). You could be bombarded by web advertisements and junk content all over the internet if this becomes the mainstream way of distributing media.

This method can not only be used by corporations but people in general could use the internet to their advantage to lower the usage of paper. There are simple little steps that could be done such as posting garage sales, small service offers and wanted ads through online classified websites instead of posting posters around the neighborhood.

Will Print Media Survive?

Posted by: Myra  /  Category: Media

What will happen to print media? How long will it survive? Even with the evolution of the MP3 player, sales of CDs have been decreasing as people turn to digital media formats of their favorite tracks. Will this happen to newspapers, magazines and ads as well as people resort to the internet to blogs and sites for their daily dose of news and entertainment? At this rate, it seems like it will.

People are turning to online media as opposed to print media because it is free, convenient to access and more dynamic.

Since print media is free, people can simply access all of the information and news that they are looking for free on many blogs and websites.

Convenience is a major factor as well. People are simply lazy: if you can access everything you want at any hour of the day without moving out of your chair, wouldn’t you?

The online media is much more dynamic than print media! Blogs are sometimes updated several times a day. This can only be done with the online media because it is easy to do so for the publisher and it’s also free! The distribution of the news/article can also be done at a push of a button.

I don’t think print media will disappear from the face of the Earth during our lifetime but it will still decrease dramaticall since the online media has so much to offer.
